Type:
Tet3 (Ten-Eleven Translocation methylcytosine dioxygenase 3) is one of the three members of the TET family of enzymes that play a central role in the active demethylation of DNA.
-Tet3 is particularly important during embryonic development.
-Altered Tet3 expression—either upregulation or downregulation—has been reported
-Some studies suggest that Tet3 may act as a tumor suppressor by maintaining proper epigenetic programming; conversely, in other contexts, its activity might support oncogenic pathways, particularly if the demethylation process activates genes that favor tumor growth or metastasis.
