| DNMT1 overexpression in various cancer types. DNA (cytosine-5-)-methyltransferase 1, commonly referred to as DNMT1, is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the maintenance of DNA methylation patterns. Increased DNMT1 activity can promote tumorigenesis by facilitating the accumulation of methylation changes that drive cancer progression.
