| PAX5 (Paired Box 5) is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in the development of B cells, which are a type of white blood cell involved in the immune response. It is primarily expressed in B-lineage cells and is essential for B cell differentiation and function. PAX5 mutations can lead to the loss of function of the protein, which may result in the inability of B cells to properly differentiate.
