Type:
Aberrant expression of miR-486 (miR-486-5p) has been reported to be associated with different types of human cancer such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), lung cancer, breast cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and pancreatic cancer. It can act as both the tumor suppressor and oncogene to participant in the development and progression of tumors.
The down-regulation of miR-486 can promote the progression of lung cancer, HCC, breast cancer and osteosarcoma, while it is usually up-regulated in PC, chronic myeloid leukemia and gliomas.
miR-486 could act as a tumor promoter by targeting CADM1 and be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of Ovarian Cancer.

: In many cancers, the downregulation of miR-486 is associated with increased tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis, suggesting a potential protumorigenic role when its expression is low.
